NVIDIA and MediaTek announced on August 31 that they are deepening their long-term partnership to build next-generation AI computing platforms spanning AI infrastructure, local AI computing, and automotive applications.
As part of the expanded partnership, MediaTek will adopt the NVIDIA NVLink Fusion platform, providing hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and frontier model developers with a prevalidated path to develop custom XPUs and integrate them into rack-scale AI factories connected by NVIDIA NVLink.
The two companies will combine NVIDIA's accelerated computing, artificial intelligence, graphics, and software platforms with MediaTek's capabilities in custom chips, high-performance computing, energy-efficient system-on-chip (SoC) design, advanced packaging, interconnects, and connectivity.
NVIDIA also invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek convertible bonds (Note: approximately RMB 23.577 billion at the current exchange rate).
Specifically, NVIDIA and MediaTek reached partnerships in three areas:
AI infrastructure: MediaTek will work with NVIDIA's NVLink Fusion ecosystem to help customers develop custom AI infrastructure designed for integration with NVIDIA rack-scale systems and AI factories.
Local AI computing: The two companies will continue developing multiple generations of NVIDIA RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips to power consumer PCs, AI development supercomputers, and enterprise workstations. These chips integrate NVIDIA GPUs with MediaTek SoCs.
Automotive: MediaTek and NVIDIA will continue developing AI-powered software-defined vehicle platforms for the era of physical AI.
