Unitree Technology’s Wang Xingxing: Humanoid Robots Are Currently Relatively Inefficient and Will Be Widely Adopted After Further Technological Improvements

At the 2026 World Robot Conference, Unitree Technology founder Wang Xingxing candidly acknowledged that humanoid robots are currently inefficient and poorly adaptable to new tasks, which is the main reason they have not yet entered homes and factories on a large scale. He stressed that technology must first achieve greater generalization and precision before broad adoption. #2026WorldRobotConference#

On the morning of August 20, during the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC 2026), Unitree Technology founder and chairman delivered a keynote speech. Wang Xingxing explained on site why the company’s products have not been widely deployed in factories, homes, and other settings: “The main reason is that their overall efficiency and capabilities are still insufficient. Simply put, although our robots can perform some tasks, their efficiency is still lower than that of humans.”

He also said that when humanoid robots encounter new tasks, they currently need to be retrained, resulting in relatively lower efficiency. “So we hope to make the technology more generalizable and the capabilities more precise before advancing large-scale deployment in specific scenarios.”
