Mistral AI announced on the 11th local time that, as part of a series of new European sovereign AI initiatives, its platform will support third-party open models, with Zhipu GLM-5.2 as the first.
Third-party open models on the Mistral platform will run under the same infrastructure, regional controls, and service commitments as its first-party models, allowing customers to expand their model options without dispersing the locations where their AI runs.
Mistral AI also announced that users can now choose whether to run AI inference workloads in the United States or Europe, making it easier for customers to meet cross-border data compliance and regulatory requirements. The company has also launched a public preview of the Mistral Priority tier, which provides committed service levels for critical workloads.
The leading European AI laboratory has also launched the “European Compute Unit” alliance program. By aggregating long-term capacity commitments for multi-customer AI workloads, it can support the development of larger-scale European computing infrastructure.
