According to a report published today by Jiemian's Hard Technology Headlines, a key figure in the communications industry chain revealed that NVIDIA is accelerating its entry into the telecommunications operator market and is seeking base station manufacturers in China as partners to develop 6G base stations that meet overseas market requirements.
The source described NVIDIA as looking for the “next Innolight” in edge-side computing power, because NVIDIA believes that computing power will next be transmitted from data centers to a vast number of AI terminals and users, ultimately relying on the wireless transmission capabilities of base stations.
The source said that NVIDIA is pursuing this project at a “relatively urgent” pace and hopes to enter trial networks in 2027 or 2028.
The report also stated that Shenzhen Jiaxian Communications is one of the base station partners NVIDIA is establishing. An insider at the company confirmed that NVIDIA began contacting the company in 2025, and the two sides are currently collaborating to develop 6G AI-RAN base stations based on NVIDIA's CUDA ecosystem. Their cooperation has continued for more than half a year.
It is worth noting that NVIDIA has previously made investments in the communications sector. For example, in October 2025, NVIDIA announced that it would subscribe to $1 billion (Note: approximately RMB 6.762 billion at the current exchange rate) worth of newly issued Nokia shares, giving it an approximately 2.9% stake. The two companies also established a strategic partnership aimed at jointly developing next-generation 6G mobile communications technology. Nokia said it would adjust its 5G and 6G software to support NVIDIA's chip platforms and would cooperate on AI-oriented network technologies.
In February this year, NVIDIA, together with Nokia, Ericsson, T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, SoftBank, and other companies, proposed building 6G on an open, software-defined, AI-native platform.
