Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman published the Power On newsletter today (August 7), revealing that OpenAI’s first AI hardware will be about the size of a hockey puck (approximately 115.8 cubic centimeters), with an estimated price of $300 to $400 (Note: at the current exchange rate, approximately 2,029 to 2,705 yuan) and is expected to launch in 2027.

In terms of positioning, this AI hardware is essentially a “smart speaker without a display,” designed for use at home. Users will be able to carry it around the house with one hand. It is being developed jointly by OpenAI and former Apple designer Jony Ive.
In terms of appearance, the device is reportedly “donut-shaped” and approximately the size of a hockey puck. IT Home consulted publicly available information and found that a standard hockey puck has a diameter of approximately 7.62 centimeters and a volume of approximately 115.8 cubic centimeters.
On the hardware side, Gurman revealed that the device will feature movable components, some of which can move automatically to indicate that the device is responding or interacting with the user. The device will also be equipped with lights, a camera system, and other sensors.
Regarding interaction, Gurman revealed that the device will operate similarly to ChatGPT’s voice mode on mobile devices. It will use a more advanced model to support interactions that are closer to human conversation.
