People familiar with the matter confirmed to Axios that renowned AI researcher Luke Metz has joined Meta's Superintelligence Labs.
Metz is the latest leading researcher to move between several competing top AI labs, amid the ongoing battle for AI talent.
Metz left OpenAI in 2024 to join Thinking Machines, founded by Mira Murati, and rejoined OpenAI earlier this year.
Metz will start working at Meta this week, reporting to Alexandr Wang, who leads the company's AI efforts. Meta has launched several new models in recent months.
His move was first disclosed in a post by X user ArfurGrok, who had previously accurately broken several personnel developments in the AI industry.
This is Meta's latest major hire. Meta has been aggressively recruiting talent since spending billions of dollars on an agreement with Scale AI that allowed its former CEO Alexandr Wang to join the company.
