According to CCTV News, the weightlifting event at the Second World Humanoid Robot Games concluded tonight (August 24).
The robot from the Beijing Humanoid-HUST joint team repeatedly increased the weight from the 15-kilogram starting load, ultimately successfully lifting 16 kilograms to win the event's first humanoid robot weightlifting championship.
According to reports, this year's event attracted 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries across six continents. The total number of teams increased by 138% year over year, while the number of robots quadrupled.
The number of events increased from 26 in the inaugural edition to 51 this year, including 30 competitive events and 21 scenario-based events, for a total of 1,301 matches. New high-intensity events included long jump, weightlifting, tug-of-war, and table tennis. The scenario-based events covered industries and settings including manufacturing, logistics, hotels, homes, and fire and rescue, with competitions such as assembly feeding, domestic services, and book organization. A dexterous-hand event was also introduced, featuring precision tasks such as powder weighing, picking up beans with tweezers, and opening bottles and prying off lids.
