OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT Admin plugin that allows workspace administrators to manage users and permissions, analyze usage, and generate reports based on relevant data directly through conversation.
OpenAI announced today the launch of a new Admin management plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex. The tool allows workspace administrators to adjust settings, ask questions, and generate reports based on workspace usage and activity data directly in ChatGPT.
OpenAI said that with the Admin plugin, administrators can complete routine management tasks directly in ChatGPT Work and Codex, including the following.
First, they can understand product adoption and usage. Administrators can review activity data and usage limit consumption for ChatGPT Work and Codex, identify teams that may need additional support, and quickly determine which members or teams are approaching their usage limits.
Second, they can manage members and groups. Administrators can add or remove members, adjust group settings, and handle routine onboarding, offboarding, and team changes.
Third, they can manage access permissions. Administrators can review users' effective permissions, troubleshoot access issues, and control access to different features and models based on roles or groups.
In addition, the Admin plugin supports managing usage limits and spending requests. Administrators can adjust limits for individuals, groups, and the entire workspace, review requests based on current usage, and approve or reject them with complete context.
In a demonstration presented by OpenAI, Aarti Bagul, a member of OpenAI's GTM team, was preparing for a monthly AI adoption review. She first asked ChatGPT Work how product adoption rates and usage limit consumption across teams had changed over the past 30 days, then asked the system to generate charts highlighting the most significant changes.
During the rest of the demonstration, she continued analyzing the relevant trends, requested more detailed data breakdowns and explanations, and approved usage limit requests. Finally, she asked ChatGPT to automatically create a presentation and share it directly in a Slack channel.
OpenAI said the new Admin plugin can automate repetitive administrative processes, expand management capabilities within the existing permission controls, and support internal IT operations for enterprises.
The Admin plugin is now available in ChatGPT Work's Plugins directory, where administrators can access and use it directly.
