Reuters reported on the 27th local time in the United States that artificial intelligence model and services company Anthropic had considered acquiring artificial intelligence chipmaker MatX for approximately US$70 hundred million (note: approximately RMB 471.6 hundred million at the current exchange rate), but the talks between the two sides have now shifted to a cooperation model.
MatX is seeking to raise new funds at a valuation of approximately US$40 hundred million (approximately RMB 269.49 hundred million at the current exchange rate).

MatX claims that its MatX One chip delivers throughput and latency performance exceeding those of all publicly announced competitors. It offers excellent computing performance for training and inference prefill, while also performing well in latency, computing power, and context length for inference decoding and reinforcement learning workloads.
Anthropic has been actively advancing its chip development initiative and recently recruited Amir Salek, the former head of Google's TPU division. The report noted that Anthropic has recently held talks with several artificial intelligence chip startups. The company may be interested in producing training chips or may instead choose to produce inference chips.
