Security firm Check Point has published its Q2 2026 Brand Phishing Research, which shows that OpenAI’s ChatGPT entered the “top 10 most impersonated brands” list for the first time this quarter. This indicates that more and more hackers are beginning to target the AI sector, disguising themselves as popular AI tools to carry out cybercrime.

Microsoft remained the most impersonated brand, accounting for approximately 23% of all such phishing attacks. LinkedIn ranked second at 11.6%, Google ranked third at 6.7%, and Apple ranked fourth at 5.8%. ChatGPT ranked tenth at 1.1%.

Check Point said that as more users begin using AI tools for work and daily life, more AI platforms may enter the “most impersonated brands” rankings in the coming quarters. These AI platforms are gradually becoming as attractive to attackers as major banks and technology companies, making them high-value attack targets.
