At its 2026Q2 earnings call held earlier today local time, Samsung SDI said that the commercialization of all-solid-state batteries is progressing as planned toward its target of beginning mass production in the second half of 2027, with the first commercial application project likely to come from the humanoid robotics sector.

Samsung SDI is engaged in in-depth discussions with humanoid robot customers and plans to provide samples in 2026H2. After completing product validation with customers, the all-solid-state batteries will enter the comprehensive preparation phase before mass production. Samsung SDI is also collaborating with multiple electric vehicle manufacturers on the joint development of all-solid-state batteries.

Samsung SDI achieved its first positive operating profit in seven quarters in 2026Q2, recovering profitability faster than previously expected. Its 2026Q2 operating revenue was 3.77 trillion Korean won (approximately 17.557 billion yuan at the current exchange rate), up 18.5% year over year and 5.4% quarter over quarter; operating profit was 203.8 billion Korean won (approximately 949 million yuan at the current exchange rate); and net profit was 471.6 billion Korean won (approximately 2.196 billion yuan at the current exchange rate), up 740.5% quarter over quarter.
