ByteDance’s Doubao announced today that it is launching an exclusive student discount program for college students enrolled nationwide.
After completing student verification, college users can receive 2.5x the free usage quota and subscribe to the Doubao Pro Standard plan, originally priced at RMB 68/month, at a special recurring price of RMB 38/month.
Doubao officially launched its paid Pro subscription service on June 24 this year. The Pro service uses a three-tier pricing structure: the Standard plan costs RMB 68/month on a recurring basis, the Enhanced plan costs RMB 200/month, and the Advanced plan costs RMB 500/month. The higher-tier plans include Doubao 2.1 Pro, a flagship large model that provides higher usage quotas for AI creation, office tasks, expert mode, and other scenarios.
The student discount includes two benefits. First, verified student users receive 2.5x the free quota to meet everyday study needs such as reading academic papers, writing code, and searching for information. Second, after completing verification and claiming the benefits, students can purchase the Pro Standard plan, originally priced at RMB 68/month, for RMB 38/month on a recurring basis.
To claim the benefits, eligible students can update the desktop version of Doubao to the latest version, open Work Tasks mode, and send a message such as “I want to claim the student discount” to Doubao. Doubao will guide them through the verification process.
Users can also log in directly through the Doubao desktop app, open the Pro subscription page from Settings, and select the “Student Benefits” option in the upper-right corner. After completing student identity verification through a Douyin account, they can receive the corresponding benefits.
