Firebird, an AI cloud platform targeting emerging-market countries, announced locally on the 8th that its AI factory in Hrazdan, Armenia—the largest in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)—has officially begun operations. This milestone came just over six months after construction on the project began.
This AI factory is based on NVIDIA AI GPUs and GPUs and uses the NVIDIA DSX platform, with support from Dell servers, Schneider Electric power infrastructure, and Vertiv cooling systems. The AI factory's initial customers include Perplexity AI.
Firebird plans to deploy 300MW of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027, representing more than 70,000 "Rubin" and "Blackwell" GPUs. Firebird has also secured 125MW of AI infrastructure capacity in Kazakhstan; its global goal is to build 2GW of computing capacity over the next two years or so.
The company received an investment earlier this year from neocloud provider CoreWeave, and NVIDIA also plans to invest in the company.
