According to the Beijing Yizhuang WeChat account, in tonight's (26th) 100-meter (large group) competition at the second World Humanoid Robot Games, Tiangong Ultra from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center won with a time of 8.64 seconds, surpassing the human world record once again and taking both the gold and silver medals in the event.
This is the third time Tiangong Ultra has set a new record, following its 9.39-second run at the opening ceremony and its 8.86-second run in the semifinals.
Guo Yijie, head of innovative humanoid development at the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, said: "Compared with last year, Tiangong Ultra has been upgraded in areas including joint motors, configuration, and heat dissipation. For example, its joint torque and rotational speed have increased significantly, while higher-power motors improve movement capability and explosive power. Its lightweight, streamlined design reduces resistance when running at high speed. In addition, development of the robot's cerebellar capabilities has helped it achieve better body control. At the algorithmic level, the robot has also received targeted training for the 100-meter event, focusing on accelerating quickly."
According to the introduction, running reflects a humanoid robot's generalized mobility, one of the key capabilities for robots to enter everyday life. It will address the practical challenge of "how to reach any place that a person can reach."
