OpenAI's ChatGPT Atlas browser will stop operating on August 9 and will no longer receive feature or security updates. The browser originally launched on macOS on October 21, 2025, less than 10 months ago.
OpenAI officially stated that none of ChatGPT Atlas's data will be automatically migrated to the new version of ChatGPT. Users who want to preserve their existing bookmarks and browsing history must export them as HTML files and then import them into Chrome or other browsers.
At the same time, the ChatGPT Atlas browser currently cannot export Cookies data, so users will need to log in again after migrating to another browser.
ChatGPT Atlas may become unable to open or browse the web after August 9. The official recommendation is that users should not continue using Atlas, as unsupported browser products may develop vulnerabilities over time, affecting online security.
In addition, OpenAI has already developed a ChatGPT extension and sidebar for the Chrome browser. Users can also choose to use the brand-new ChatGPT desktop app.
