ByteDance officially launched “Doubao Work” today. As a new Agent product and brand from Doubao for productivity scenarios, Doubao Work can autonomously break down tasks around users’ goals, call tools, and continuously advance complex workflows.
Doubao Work is also deeply integrated with Lark, enabling Agents to complete tasks more accurately based on enterprise context.
The desktop version of Doubao Work is now available for download from the official website, and users can also access it directly through the latest desktop version of Doubao. Starting today, users can download and log in or upgrade to receive 30 days of subscription benefits free of charge.
For the most common and time-consuming tasks in daily office work, Doubao Work provides content generation and editing capabilities. Whether writing proposals, organizing meeting minutes, drafting reports, preparing research summaries, creating spreadsheets, or analyzing data, Doubao Work can deliver completed results.
In more complex production scenarios, Doubao Work can also generate and edit images, videos, web pages, and even applications.
Beyond generation capabilities, AI collaborative editing makes Doubao Work even more responsive to precise instructions. Users can directly select any part of a generated document, spreadsheet, presentation, or web page and make changes, rather than generating it again. This saves computing resources while improving task completion speed.
In more complex work scenarios, Doubao Work can also directly operate browsers and computers. With user authorization, Doubao Work can complete tasks across applications, process data with professional software, browse the web to gather information, fill out forms, and compare materials. For tasks that require extended operation, it can call a cloud computer to continue execution, allowing tasks to proceed even when the user’s computer is shut down. Users can also remotely control their computers from their phones to continue unfinished work while away.
To support more diverse work needs, AI ecosystem capabilities such as skills, connectors, and work partners are also essential. Users can expand Doubao Work’s capabilities according to their task requirements, calling different tools and external capabilities to handle complex workflows. These tools cover a range of professional areas, including data analysis, content planning, scientific research, and finance. Users can also select multiple specialized Agents to form a work team and collaborate on complex tasks. For example, when creating a data research report, they can connect data, research, and design Agents so that each contributes its strengths and they can work together efficiently.
Another major difference between Doubao Work and general Agent tools is its deep understanding of users’ work context. Through its deep integration with Lark, users who sign in to Doubao Work with their Lark accounts will inherit the enterprise knowledge and work context available within their permissions. Within the scope authorized by the user, it can access contextual information naturally accumulated in Lark, such as chat history, documents, meeting minutes, and calendars, and combine it with relevant tools to complete tasks. In other words, Doubao Work does not rely solely on a single sentence entered by the user to produce results. Instead, it uses the real context in Lark to understand goals, assess issues, and deliver work more accurately. Following the launch of Doubao Work, the original Doubao Enterprise entry in Lark has also been upgraded to Doubao Work.
Going a step further, the content and knowledge created by users together with Doubao Work will also continue to be accumulated in Lark, becoming enterprise knowledge that can be edited, shared, and reused. When executing tasks in the future, Doubao Work can leverage this continuously expanding context to perform even better.
For enterprise-level security, Doubao Work has also established a rigorous end-to-end Agent security protection system covering device access, permission settings, quota management, data encryption, and operation auditing. At the same time, Doubao Work strictly inherits Lark’s existing permission system: users can read data and use tools only within their own permission scope, while personal data and enterprise data remain isolated from each other. Doubao Work is currently among the first office Agents in China to pass both the Office Agent capability certification and the cloud benchmark test certification.
