Anthropic announced today (August 5) the appointment of Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar as the company’s first head of global affairs.
IT Home, citing a Reuters report, said that Cuéllar will report directly to company co-founder and president Daniela Amodei. Based at Anthropic’s San Francisco headquarters, he will lead the company’s global policy, strategic international engagement, and government relations efforts.
According to publicly available information reviewed by IT Home, Cuéllar is a Mexican-American legal scholar and public policy expert. He served as a justice of the California Supreme Court (2014–2021) and as president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (2021.11–2026.06).
