According to the latest report from industry analysis firm Semi Analysis, Google may have internally shelved the Gemini 3.5 Pro model. To fill the gap left by the model’s delayed release, the company may promote the Gemini 4 series ahead of schedule.
At Google’s 2026 I/O developer conference held this May, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that the Gemini 3.5 Pro model would be released in June, but the model has still not gone online.
During Alphabet’s 2026 second-quarter earnings call, Pichai reiterated: “I’m very excited about the progress we [referring to Google] are making at the frontier,” and expressed “confidence that the Gemini models will remain at the forefront.”
Semi Analysis pointed out that Gemini has clearly fallen behind frontier models. According to the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Gemini currently ranks eighth among labs, behind Muse Spark 1.2, Grok 4.5, and leading models from China’s open-source labs.
ITHome reported in July that Google’s latest Gemini 3.5 Pro model had briefly appeared on the Arena platform. A screenshot posted by user Harshith（@HarshithLucky3）showed that Gemini 3.5 Pro was removed just 30 minutes after going online, and the user had only completed one SVG test.
