Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced yesterday that it has expanded the availability of AI models on GovCloud. US government agencies can access AI foundation models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta, as well as Amazon's own Nova models, through Amazon Bedrock.
AWS GovCloud is designed specifically for US government agencies, providing a cloud computing environment that meets government regulatory and security requirements and offers external isolation.
Amazon said: “We are pleased to announce that AWS GovCloud (US) can now provide multiple AI models through Amazon Bedrock, offering government customers, the defense industrial base, and technology partners a variety of AI models.”
Amazon's AWS business is currently maintaining strong growth. In the second quarter of 2026, AWS operating profit increased 63% year over year and revenue increased 37%. Strong performance in AI and chips was an important driver of this growth.
Amazon's management expects AWS revenue could eventually reach $1 trillion (note: approximately 6.74 trillion yuan at current exchange rates). At present, about 85% of global IT spending is still allocated to on-premises environments, indicating that the cloud computing market still has significant room to grow.
