What Is Dividend?
Dividend is an open-source plugin from Mint Security for Claude Code. It helps you make sense of your current session’s context, prompt cache, and usage limits through quick tips and short lessons shown while you work.
The plugin’s insights come from information reported by Claude Code, and its data stays on your machine. Like other Claude Code mods, Dividend is JavaScript written in TypeScript and runs inside Claude Code with your user permissions.
Because Claude Code plugins run with your user permissions, review the plugin documentation and source before installation. Dividend’s own README explains what it does on your machine and what it keeps.

claude plugin marketplace add Mint-Security/claude-code-plugins#dividend--v0.1.0
claude plugin install dividend@mint-securityPinning the marketplace this way keeps installation tied to the dividend--v0.1.0 tag rather than the unpinned marketplace reference.
Development and Local Testing
If you are contributing to the repository or reviewing the plugin locally, Claude Code provides commands for validation and testing.
Validate the Entire Repository
claude plugin validate .Validate Only Dividend
claude plugin validate plugins/dividendRun the Plugin Tests
claude plugin test plugins/dividendLoad Dividend Directly in a Session
claude --plugin-dir plugins/dividendThe --plugin-dir option lets you run the local Dividend directory in a Claude Code session, which is useful when checking changes before installing a packaged marketplace release.
Advanced Tips
- Reload after installation: Use
/reload-pluginsinstead of restarting when you already have a Claude Code session open. - Pin when stability matters: Add the marketplace with the
#dividend--v0.1.0suffix when you want the documented reviewed release. - Validate before testing: When developing locally, run validation on the repository or plugin directory before running the test command.
- Inspect plugin behavior: Review the Dividend-specific README for details about what the plugin displays, what it does on your machine, and what information it keeps.
- Remember the permission model: Claude Code executes mods with your user permissions, so treat plugin review as part of installation.
Conclusion
Dividend adds an accessible view of Claude Code session context, prompt caching, and usage limits through brief, in-session guidance. After adding Mint Security’s marketplace and installing the plugin, use /dividend to open its pane. Developers can also validate, test, and run the TypeScript-based plugin locally.
