CleanYourTV Operational

CleanYourTV is an open-source TV optimization tool that connects to Android TVs via ADB over Wi-Fi. With AI agents such as Claude Code, it automatically identifies and disables ads, telemetry, and bloated preinstalled software, while also installing a clean, Apple TV-style launcher. No root access is required, apps are not uninstalled, and everything is backed up automatically before changes are made, with one-click restoration available. CleanYourTV supports 92 models and 16 languages. The launcher is only 370 KB, requires no root access or app uninstallation, backs up system settings before changes, and can be fully restored at any time. More than 20 TV models are currently supported.

Clone the project: Pull the gathin/clean-your-tv repository from GitHub to your local computer.
Connect to the same Wi-Fi: Make sure the computer and TV are on the same network. On the TV, go to “Settings → About → Build number” and tap it 7 times to enable developer mode.
Enable ADB debugging: Open “Network ADB debugging” in the TV’s “Developer options” and note the TV’s IP address.
Configure the connection: Edit the config.yaml file in the project or enter the TV’s IP address, brand, model, and other details in the AI assistant instructions.
Start the AI assistant: Paste the contents of PROMPT.md into Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini CLI and ask it to begin execution.
Automatic backup: The script first creates a backup of software package states, saved as a JSON file, to ensure complete restoration later.
Disable ad components: The assistant follows the lists and uses adb shell pm disable-user to disable preinstalled ads, telemetry, and recommendation services.
Install the minimalist launcher: Install the approximately 300 KB CleanYourTV Launcher as needed to replace the ad-filled default launcher.
Verify the results: Restart the TV and confirm that ads are gone, the new launcher works correctly, and commonly used apps are unaffected.

No hardware cost: Only the TV and computer are needed on the same Wi-Fi network. Operations are performed wirelessly through ADB, with no USB drive, flashing box, or external device required.
No root access, controlled risk: System apps are disabled with pm disable-user instead of being uninstalled, and everything can be restored with one click. This is far safer than flashing firmware.
AI-powered, beginner-friendly operation: Users do not need to understand the command line. Paste PROMPT.md into Claude Code or another assistant to automate the process.
