01What Is Claude Duet
Claude Duet is Anthropic's personal AI agent, built on the Opus 5.5 model. Claude Due can proactively connect to email, calendars, banks, and enterprise systems, deliver a work briefing every morning, prepare materials in advance, and continue working in a cloud virtual machine while the user is away. Claude Due can use more than 6000 plugins to handle tasks involving finance, recruiting, customer communications, and more, but sensitive actions such as sending messages and making payments require user approval. It is currently available as a research preview only to US Pro/Max subscribers.
02Key Features of Claude Duet
Morning briefings: Extracts information from connected apps every morning, delivers the day's important items and pending decisions, and includes prepared materials for handling them.
Task execution: After users assign tasks by text or voice, it independently determines which apps and steps to use, then continues running in the background until completion.
Continuous offline work: Has its own cloud virtual machine and browser, so tasks continue after users close their devices; it sends notifications when work is complete or requires review.
Priority assessment: Independently distinguishes urgency and importance, proactively suggesting that non-urgent matters be deferred and interrupting users only when necessary.
Workflow automation: Uses more than 6000 connectors to handle routine business tasks such as invoice collection, payroll preparation, job posting, contract signing, and store management.
Secure payment authorization: Completes purchases through Stripe Link virtual cards or Shop Pay. User approval is always required before payment, and real card numbers are not exposed.
03How Claude Duet Works
Proactive monitoring: Claude Duet polls users' connected accounts every few hours and uses the judgment of Opus 5.5 to classify retrieved information by importance and urgency. It sends messages only when it determines that the user needs to know, while users can configure the notification scope and frequency themselves.
Cloud execution architecture: Tasks run in a Duet-specific virtual machine with a dedicated browser, decoupled from the user's device and capable of resuming from where they left off.
Context inheritance: Duet directly reuses the memories, skills, and connected apps in the user's Claude account. All tasks take place in the same ongoing conversation thread, requiring no reconfiguration and enabling a seamless transition from the core product to agent functionality.
Credential management: Following the credential design of Claude Managed Agents, Duet itself does not access user passwords or login tokens. Login and authorization take place in an isolated cloud environment, and sensitive details do not enter the model context.
Action approval: Preparatory work such as reading and drafting can be performed autonomously, but all external actions require Duet to show the user the specific operation and wait for approval. The auto mode classifier blocks steps the user did not request, while securities trading and transfers between accounts are permanently prohibited.
